For quite some time now, I am a reader of the Data News. This is a Belgian magazine reviewing technologies, highlighting ICT actors in Belgium, interviewing personalities and much more. This is quite unique and I encourage you to discover it. Since I started in the IT industry, I received the invitation to this Data News Awards but never had the chance to participate. Each year, telling myself, “next time I want in”.
Yesterday evening, I had a blast at the 20th Data News Awards for Excellence. The organization chose to host this special night in Brussels Expo. The theme was “Cirque Mystique”. A great show coupled to a warm sphere and fine food allowed the guests to enjoy some hours in another universe. Kristof Van Der Stadt and his staff were golden hosts. They took the time to exchange a few words with many and I could see plenty of happy faces.
In short, the Data News Awards exists to recognize and celebrate ICT personalities, Start-ups, Companies & innovators that made the difference. After a public vote, the magazine’s staff together with a jury made of various personalities agree on a winner in several categories. This year, it was a pleasure to see many Belgian companies and start-ups in the spotlights such as Collibra, Robovision or iReachm.

Last but not least, Daan De Wever received the price of the personality of the year with lots of emotions. He has been rewarded for his entrepreneurship and exceptional growth of his company Destiny.
